Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) writes that on 25 November, at least 1800 prisoners in Unit 2 of Ghezelhesar prison went on hunger strike. The protest begun after the transfer of yet another 11 prisoners of the unit to the place of their execution.

 

The same agency also reports that six Sunni prisoners of conscience who have been sentenced to death are on their 27th days of hunger strike. The agency says Hameh Ahmadi, Kamal Moulayi, Jamshid Dehghani, Jahangir Dehghani, Seddigh Mohammadi and Syed Hadi Hosseini, went on hunger strike to protest the death sentence. Their conditions are saying to be worsening.

 

HRANA quotes a source saying: “Seyed Hadi Hosseini is suffering from epilepsy, and suffered two epileptic attacks in recent days. His friends could not help him because they were themselves so weak.”

 

The same sources said “Families of these six prisoners have sent letters to the office of Seyed Ali Khamenehei, Hasan Rouhani, head of judiciary and general attorney, appealing for a fair re-trial. But after a month, still no answer has been received.”

 

Speaking about Ghezelhesar prison, the same source said, “Some of the units does not have warm water for days now, and prisoners cannot use bathrooms”.
