Cemil Bayik: Political genocide is being imposed on the Kurds

KCK Executive Council Member Cemil Bayik stressed that the ‘dirty war’ of the 1990s had been put back into practise but using different methods. He said, ‘‘there is a campaign to exterminate the Democratic Kurdish Movement,’’ and added that those fighting against this would need to be patient and resolute. Bayik stressed that the Kurdish Freedom Movement had begun the process for a solution to the Kurdish issue beginning with the March 29th local elections. Against this the Turkish State had continued its policy of denial and extermination by adopting new methods, he emphasised.

Kurdish newspaper editor sentenced to 21 years in prison

“Freedom of expression must be extended once and for all to the Kurdish press,” Reporters Without Borders said today, reacting to the 21-year jail sentence which a court in Diyarbakir, the largest city in Turkey’s mainly Kurdish southeast, has passed on Ozan Kilinç, the owner and editor of the country’s only Kurdish-language daily, Azadiya Welat.

Dozens of Kurdish BDP Members Arrested – Again

In operations carried out in eleven provinces last weekend the police arrested more than 100 people, most of them members of the Peace and Democracy Party. Of all people arrested in Hakkari, 15 persons were taken into detention.

Turkey’s Homework on Minority Rights

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe calls Turkey for a series of measures regarding religious minorities to be implemented throughout the coming twelve months. A progress report is expected by February 2011.

Chemical Ali who killed 100 000 Kurds and poisoned the Kurdish city Halabja was executed today. The gas and the poison used against the Kurds was made with the help of Soviet-Russia and the West.
