New detentions of socialist journalists and activists
32 people have been detained at police operations carried out on September 8, 2009, in İstanbul, İzmir, Ankara, Bursa, Diyarbakır, Tunceli, Malatya and Çanakkale. Police teams raided the offices of the weekly Atilim and the Socialist Platform of Oppressed People (ESP), accusing them of activities in favour of the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party (MLKP).
