Prison guard says he witnessed others beating Çeber

A prison guard accused of responsibility in the death of activist Engin Çeber, who was allegedly beaten to death in Istanbul's Metris Prison after he was taken into custody during a demonstration, said in Thursday's hearing that he witnessed his colleagues beating the activist several times in the prison.

In 1894, French officer Alfred Dreyfus was arrested in Paris, sentenced to lifetime imprisonment on fabricated espionage charges, and deported to the Devil's Islands. Dreyfus' Jewish identity and the anti-Semitism rampant in France of those times have played a substantial role in his conviction. Four years later, famous writer Emile Zola highlighted Dreyfus' conviction in his open letter I Accuse (J'Accuse).

31 Baloch killed in the last 30 days in Iran, Reza Hossein Borr

One Baluch was killed and another one was arrested on 20.12.08 by the Iranian security forces, the Iranian Fars News Agency reported. (1) This Baluch was killed when he was travelling in Kerman province. The report suggested that there was an armed clash between the two sides but did not say anything about the government casualties.
